Sunderland Black and Minority Ethnic Network
What is SBMEN?
• It is a network of 16 black and minority ethnic voluntary and community organisations based in Sunderland with 6 Associate members from the statutory, private and voluntary sectors
• It was set up in 2004 to strengthen BME groups for the benefit of everyone in the city
What we offer?
• Help with business planning, fundraising and project management
• Help with training and supporting management committees
SBMEN
• Is active in the Sunderland Partnership
• Ensures that BME community concerns and issues are recognised by the Partnership
• Identifies funding opportunities for the BME voluntary and community sector in Sunderland
• Promotes partnership working between within and across communities in the city
Achievements
The Sunderland Black and Ethnic Minority Employment Access Project has been recognised as achieving
the Tyne and Wear City Region's Employment & Skills Good Practice Status, exhibiting good practice in Client Engagement & Case Management
